Shakespeare wrote Hamlet; Shakespeare’s father dies. It is unknown of the exact date Hamlet was written, however, it is assumed that Hamlet was produced a few years before Shakespeare began writing Romances. It is also assumed that Shakespeare’s father’s death was the motivation for the late poet to write Hamlet.

Table Alphabeticall, the first English dictionary, is published

Shakespeare begins producing Cymbeline, The Tempest, and Winter’s Tale. These plays symbolize the Romance period for the late poet.

Shakespeare writes Othello, King Lear, and Macbeth. These plays are among the Tragedies Shakespeare produces during his life.

The first permanent English settlement in the New World (Jamestown) is established.

Shakespeare creates Henry VIII, Two Noble Kinsmen, and Cardenio (now lost) a couple of years before he passes. These plays are noted to be the last plays he wrote in his lifetime.

Shakespeare writes his last will; Shakespeare dies. The exact cause of his death is unknown. His body is entombed at Holy Trinity Church in Stratford-upon-Avon. Shakespeare’s youngest daughter marries and about one month later dies during childbirth.

Shakespeare's plays published: About seven years after Shakespeare’s death, a collection of 36 of his plays were published by his colleagues John Heminge and Henry Condell in the First Folio. They named this collection The First Folio.
