About the Authors
This project is the result of our collaborative efforts to build an interactive website covering the time period from 1500-1800. We are all members of the same Linguistics Class at Florida State University. This information is useful to us as teachers, as we recognize the fluidity and power of the English language. There were many ways we could have approached this time period, but we found richness in looking at the basic ways of communication among the people of England. This will help us in our future classrooms as we take on diverse students from various cultures. Standard English is the most used language in our time. Reading and studying about its rich heritage helps us to appreciate our roles as educators more deeply than before this project. We now have a nuanced appreciation for the intricacies of English, and we hope that you do as well. We thank you for browsing through our site. We hope you learned something! Before leaving, we want to introduce ourselves to you:
